Understand your utility and solar | Eden

Learn which utility questions matter before considering solar, from interconnection and export compensation to the fixed charges on your electricity bill.

Your electric utility affects how a solar system connects to the grid and how imported and exported electricity are accounted for.

Read the complete bill

A bill may include energy, demand, delivery, fixed and other charges. A rooftop system does not automatically remove every charge.

Verify the current rules

Ask your utility for its current tariff, interconnection process and export compensation rules. A generic national estimate cannot replace the rules for your account.
